HCoating, an abrasion resistant coating for transparent plastic materials, is the success of Arotek's proprietary technology. The coating composition is comprised of several new synthetic substances developed and fully characterized by Arotek, which were also identified by the American Chemical Society (ACS), and approved by the Environment Protection Agency of US Government (EPA).
Water Droplet On Coated Lens HCoating is a hard coat with superior scratch resistance. It can be cured by a UV lamp in seconds. Once cured, its pencil hardness rating is 7H, harder than most tintable UV coatings commercially available. It adheres to all kinds of plastic lenses, including Polycarbonate, CR-39, and Hi Index. It brings super hydrophobicity to the surface of the lens (slippery), protecting the lens from contamination. It is crystal clear, also tintable, and tints to a true color in about 15 minutes. Coating quality was validated by COLTS Laboratories. HCoating is compatible not only with conventional vacuum AR (anti-reflective, anti-reflection) coatings, and but also with novel sol-gel based AR coating. HCoating has no solvent (solvent free) so that its viscosity will not change much during long term applications (six months and beyond), plus no coating and solvent waste disposal. H Coating is welcomed by optical labs, because it is environment and user friendly. It is applicable in the existing lens coating machines (spin coaters) already in service, and also miscible and co-curable with other no volatile (NV) UV- coatings. No change is required.
